How did I re-master my site (P2)

wpSometime ago, I wrote one page about iWeb Resources; and now, as I turn myself to WP, it’s reasonable to sum up what I’m doing and using. This time is about WP Plugins. When it comes to WordPress, everyone knows that WP Plugins are essential to save you from labor jobs, and also to do incredible things for you in case you are not familiar enough with “the terms” . There are thousand of plugins available for WP, far more than I’m aware of. But the choice, of course, is yours. I did use some of plugins in my site for which I thought are useful. Some should be added in the near future.

Below are the plugins I’m currently using: 10 and counting.

itunes.pngAnarchy Media Player – Author: An-archos. Allows you to play mp3, flv, mov, mp4, m4v, m4a, m4b, 3gp, avi, asf and wmv hypertext links directly on your webpage. Almost everything media-related are there; the lunch is ready

html.pngAngsuman Permenant Redirect – Author: Angsuman Chakraborty. As it said: permanent redirect your post/page to somewhere on Earth that you want it to when users click on that post/page. I did use it this plugin to redirect some pages in my site to the old pages I designed last time in iWeb.

find.pngGoogle Sitemaps – Author: Arne Brachhold. Plugin that generates a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog so you can submit it to Google Sitemaps to make sure that Google robots can crawl your site better. Btw, you need an Gmail account for submitting a sitemap.

text.pngLive Comment Preview – Authors: Jeff Minard & Iacovos Constantinou. Activate to supply users with a live comment preview, they can see their comment in real-time. I think the idea is great, and the plugin is indeed easy to use.

black_pages1.pngQuoter – Author: Daniele Mancino. Allows users to quote other comments and any text inside a page, just like what people do in a forum, quote a quote

widget.pngSidebar Widgets – Author: Automattic Inc. Adds “Sidebar Widgets” panel under Presentation menu. It sounds too short and a bit complicated at first, but when you try it out, you sure find that your WP blog cannot live without it. WP Widgets is a plugin designed to provide a simple way to arrange the various elements of your sidebar content without having to change any code! Widgets now also too popular to ignore already, check out this solely WPW list.

uae.pngTranslate – Author: Trevor Creech. Adds a sidebar widget to display languages into which you can translate your blog using Google translate. Currently Google supports 11 languages and so does your blog

doc.pngUltimate Tag Warrior – Author: Christine Davis. UTW is a tagging plugin, that’s heavy on tag visualisation. In other words, it takes care of almost everything you need to make sure that your WP blog has tags, then to organize those tags, also to display all your blog tags in a collectively readable way. An example is the Tag Cloud in my Archive page

lock.pngWordPress Database Backup – Author: Scott Merrill. On-demand backup of your WordPress database. Simple, fast, and reliable; just choose the tables you want to backup and you are done

black_preview.pngWPG2 – Authors: Ozgreg & WPG2 Team. This great plugin allows you to embeds Gallery2 within WordPress to share photos, videos and any other Gallery2 content seamlessly into your Blog & Sidebar Content. If you know enough about Gallery2, you probably need this plugin right after install Gallery2. I should have another post just about integrating WP and Gallery 2; this thing is so addicted

I will come back with list of other add-ons and tools which may help you along the way. Final words: thanks all the authors for sharing their plugins, the wheel is not there for re-invented.

Article ends here, perhaps you want to share it!
