I heard about BootCamp but wasn’t sure if it would slow down the laptop’s performance running both OS at the same time. Now that you said that, I feel better now

My sister’s laptop has been suffering from Vista and its rather weak configurations (to run Vista smoothly), so we’re actually thinking of getting a Mac for her – either MB or MBP – after Winter Break. There should probably be more reviews on the two models by then for us to make the final decision We checked on the Sony VAIO too but have had mixed feelings about it…

Thanks a lot for the info Yilka! It’s always good to know someone who’s using a Mac and could actually explain it in understandable terms.

Regarding the Win – Mac co-exist, I (and Apple) can assure you there’s a simple answer for that tough question Apple has a software called BootCamp which allows users to install both Windows and Mac in 2 seperate partitions, they can login to either Windows or Mac during startup. The newest BootCamp is even compatible with Vista, FYI.

Running Windows in a Mac is fast and smooth; Apple said so, readers said so, Microsoft said so too

I check CNET, PCMag and other sites every once in a while to read about new computers partly because I like cool tech gadgets, partly because I look to find a good laptop to replace my Thinkpad T61 after graduation. It’s been acting up quite a lot lately…

One question though – as a seasoned user, you probably don’t feel the need to run Windows in parallel with Leopard. Brand new switchers, however, might need a transition period before completely moving to using the Mac OS. So I’d like to know how smoothly both OS run together in a Mac. How was your experience?

^^ Lila, you are absolutely right on the new Mac, it’s no better time to get a Mac than now. For me, I will not join the crowd (yet), my current MBP serves me just fine, i’m looking toward the MacWorld Sanfrancisco on Jan 2009
