My Eye Candy Leopard

Finally I had time to backup then install Mac OS X Leopard on my MacBook Pro Overall, the installation is quick and painless . Leopard is deadly gorgeous and much much faster than Tiger

There are many ways to install Leopard into your Mac: via Leopard DVD, via Network, via External HDD (Firewire, USB). I made use of my iPod Video 5G (30Gb) to boot up The backup took me around 45 minutes to complete, whereas the installation only took about 15 minutes.

Just a quick note, you can find online tutorial how to squeeze Leopard Install DVD from Dual Layer to Single Layer, that would probably benefit many who don’t have DL DVD Burner

From OS X Tiger, make the boot disc: Drap and Drop only, no magic trick Give it 10 minutes to run …

… it will wipe up the iPod to make room for Leopard Installer…

… then start up my Mac using iPod, having only 1 choice: Install …

… let it run seamlessly, meanwhile listen to music

… after 15 minutes, the future comes Leopard now says goodbye to Aqua UI, an entire new Look n’ Feel surely will rock your Mac:

There’s online guides to change the color of Dock, you can customize it to fit the wallpaper like the Rainbow Dock and Green Dock I’m using below. You can download from this RapidShare link (1.7MB) or Google for the detail method, it’s rather simple indeed.

CoverFlow is blazing fast and smoother than I’ve expected:

Stacks are useful to organize your own corner. Here’s Application Stacks:

and Utility Stacks:

Leopard re-designs almost everything (icons, buttons, toolbar, boxes … just to give you a fresh new world. Here’s the special folders in Leopard:

and the 3D Dock with closer look:

Leopard 10.5 inner power:

… and a whole lot more.

That’s all for a quick look to Leopard, the best way (still) is to install Leopard into your Mac. It’s definitely time to add a new blackapple.gif to your blackapple.gif

Welcome to tomorrow

That’s wicked cool… The post on how you re-mastered your site was very interesting too. I look forward to other posts on the many great things you can do with a Mac.

I’ve been thinking of getting a Mac as well but still sort of on a budget. Are you gonna write a review on the iPod Touch as well?

    Take care.

    Hi Lila,

Of course I’ll keep writing about the Mac and one of the posts will review the iPod Touch, just don’t know when

If you wanna switch to Mac, hold on for 1-2 more weeks. Rumors say that Apple will introduce an upgrade version for their MacBook. You always can buy Apple products with Educational Discount from though.

Warmly welcome anyone who are joining the coolest crowd All the best!

I’m still waiting for Leopard to be freely distributed at my school. I’m not very into Eye Candy UI of Leopard though. Moreover, some softwares I’m using just not support new Leopard

Oh yes, I’m looking forward to seeing the new Macbook.

FYI: Apple starts selling Leopard last Friday (26 Oct); today they reports that more than 2 millions copies of Leopard were sold which is pretty amazing. Love the new GUI or not, we just can’t deny that it’s like nothing before, a meal should looks good then tastes good, and Leopard promises to deliver it

  • Lila says:

Thanks Yilka, I’ll wait on for both the review(s) and the new Apple products. Apple=cool

Follow the simple steps to customize your dock:

    scurve-sm.png

    (You need root password)

    4. After backup, you can delete them, then copy other 4 PNG files with exact same name. You can make them using Photoshop on your own, or download some samples online.

    5. Finally, open terminal and type: killall Dock

Your Dock will be restart with new look

    Some samples:

    - Green Dock (400 Kb)

The new MacBook has an excellent spec: runs on Intel Santa Rosa chip and powered by Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor. All MacBook now shipped with new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and iLife’08 so you can enjoy the whole new world out of the box

Great news for one looking to buy a new Mac, it’s about time. This move will also be the final upgrade from Apple during holiday season.
