With attempt to boost the notebook sales by improving visual design, Metro – the prototype laptop designed by Intel and Ziba Design (Portlan) was introduced few days ago. Metro could be consider as the world’s thinnest notebook which is less than 0.7 inches thick and weights only 2.25 pounds (about 1 kg)
– far more thinner and lighter than those laptops currently offered by Sony and Apple. Here’s the first look:

Let’s take a closer look at its design and configurations.
As thick as a Motorola Razr phone:

Completely smooth, dark with orange font keyboard:

Made of champagne-colored magnesium, the laptop is decorated with subtle gold accents (Roger Kay):

Different choices of color; one side featuring an E Ink screen to display your calendar, photos, or daily schedule; and the addition of a shoulder strap:

Metro uses flash memory instead of a standard hard drive. It also has 14 hours of battery life; and equipped with wireless connectivity, fingerprint reader, noise canceling technology, … “It’s like jewelry” says Omer Kotzer, a creative director at Ziba
More wow factors will be announced later.
Pretty lovely huh
; “price was not a concern” says Bob Sweet, account director at Ziba. I’m sold, totally ![]()
Sony and Apple better watch out ’cause Metro is going into production later this year. WWDC 2007 is around the corner; besides the details of Mac OS X Leopard and iPhone, rumors are flying about a new Apple ultra portable flash-based model or at least an upgrade for MacBook Pro. We shall see ![]()
