Music Page – How to

1. How to integrate flash music player into a website
Assuming that you want to have some music played in your website, you may need a flash player first.

  • My Weekly Album page last time used Flash MP3 Player distributed free for personal usage, made by Jeroen Wijering. He’s also the author of Flash Media Player which can handle many media formats (MP3, FLV, SWF, JPG, PNG …. I highly recommend you check his stuff first, before seeking other alternative solutions.
  • Another powerful and easy to use mp3 player is FLAMPlayer. It also comes with an administration module supporting the fast addition of tracks, authors, playlists…
  • One light, fast, and yet simple flash-based player should be mentioned is XSPF Web Music Player written by Actionscript 2, and is free for all.
  • The flash I also prefer to use in my Weekly Album is Wimpy MP3 – also very handy and simple. It is skinable and also supports bunch of useful stuff.

To integrate those flash player into your website, just follow the instruction details provided by authors on their websites. In fact, all of them should share almost the same way to add your music player into your website; you need to add/change a piece of code with zero-knowledge about SQL, PHP, or Flash Scripts. One example could be found here.

2. If you are using a CMS
In case you are using a Content Management System (CMS) i.e: WordPress, Joomla… for your blog like me; you may find it’s a bit tricky to add your flash music player comparing to pure HTML file. You either need basic PHP knowledge to modify your own code, or rely on plugins to save your life. There are some plugins available to have you manage/insert your flash player into CMS. For me, I’m using wordTube to get the job done. You can read about its descriptions in the WordPress Plugins List page.

Hope I address some main points of how to have a mp3 flash player singing in your own site. Feel free to drop any question, I’ll try to answer if I know

Great post. I got some very valuable information from it. I’ve been trying out Joomla lately and am having a great time experimenting with it. Have you used Joomla? Any tips for me? If you’d like to see my blog it’s here. Thanks again for this blog – it is really informative.
