As I mentioned sometimes ago, many good Asian movies are released with English subtitle during this time. Today is “Good Friday”, and it looks like we have a bunch of cool stuff to watch
Protégé (2007)
“Protege” has been released yesterday in Hong Kong after a long anticipated time. Last month, it was out in Mainland China, but I couldn’t watch it since there’s no English subtitle yet, and the available Vietnamese sub sucks
But the wait is finally over.

Great story about Drug trafficking and Mole with great cast: Andy Lau, Daniel Wu, and Louis Koo; “Protege” looks like a biggest HK film during the first few months in 2007.
The film tells of a well-intentioned narcotics agent, Nick (Daniel Wu) deep undercover in the heart of Hong Kong’s lucrative heroin trade. He is forced to deal with the hypocrisy and despair in a life of drugs and crime, as he plays protege to one of the key players of the game, “Banker” (Andy Lau).
Twins Mission (2006)
Plot: A Tibetan Dzi bead, en route to Hong Kong for an exhibition, is stolen by a mysterious gang. Linked to a long-lost cult called the Gemini clan, Lucky, the guardian of the Dzi bead, along with his adopted son Hey, try to persuade the clan’s leader to help them track down the thieves. Refusing to be involved, the Principal summons instead the Clan’s former members – Twins – to retrieve the bead.

“Twins Mission” is not a superb movie, but a very entertaining one, especially with the presence of twins sister Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung

While the first movie’s an original dynamic fusion of a gangster film and a love story; the latter one is purely an action-pack featuring a fierce competition between eight martial arts masters trained in a variety of different fighting styles to find out whose fighting style is the most powerful.

“One Last Dance” was filmed entirely in Singapore retelling the story of an assassin was hired to kill the men responsible for kidnapping an important man’s son. With every death, the killer gets closer to the last kidnapper’s name… his own. That story is well written, very cool puzzle. Amongst the cast, we can recognize the “notorious” Vivan Hsu was a main actress ![]()
Death Note 2: The Last Name (2006)
Plot: Picking up where the first one leaves off, Light joins the task force searching for Kira in an effort to avert suspicion from himself and also, to get rid of L. The mystery deepens as another Death Note with its God of Death, is brought into the human world. A second and third Kira complicates the mystery.

“Death Note 2″ was so brilliant with stunning visual effect and beautiful cast. It’s absolutely must-watch for audiences who love fantasy, horror and thriller movies. Although I don’t like the ending, maybe it’s just me who feel that it’s not fair for Light.

Death Note 2 was stunning. Not many visual effects, I must say. My fav. were the watch, the pulse indicator, Ryuk “I have enjoyed enough. You still haven’t?”. My dislike was when one guy hit the watch from around 15m with only a pistol. Then the watch fell off very unnaturally
Phim protégé chắc hay, toàn chai đẹp
với lại em đang ghiền chủ đề drug (Layer cake, Pure, Requiem for a dream).
I’ll talk to u via YM, u should have it for viewing tonight
*It’s all because of the emptiness inside* – Gotta love this quote from “Protege”, truly unique movie about drugs nowaday
I should mention the kid is so adorable too.
People, watch it, u have been warned ^-^
What I like about the film is that the undercover is not portrayed as glacially heroic. He human may just fall for a girl, care for a child, moved by his prey, avenge for his wrath and surrender emptiness.
The kid is so stunning and I can tell that her appearence is not at all overstated. Living in such a circumstance indeed brought her that silence, that affection, that sense of responsibility. She can’t savour her mother who had no choice, like the pigeons, removed as matter of course, but she can savour her confused uncle eventually.
I hate drug-about movies, always make me sissy.
Bùn cười nhất là cái poster lừa tình trắng trợn, ko phản ánh tí nào hình tượng tơi tả thảm hại của các nhân vật trong phim, which is a good move ha ha.
Have to agree with u on this, the poster is totally different from what we shall see in the movie. That’s absolutely unpredictable
Great movie indeed.
It served him right, bro. I mean for Light. He had good intention but later he turned into a ruthless murderer. That shows the boundary between the good and the evil is very thin.
Sono no-to ni namae ga kakareta ningen wa shinu.
Once ur name is written there in the note, u will die.
Saigo ni namae wo kakeru no wa dare?
Which one is the last name?
Absolutely stunning, Deathnote 2.
Btw, keep writing, Mr. Yilka. Impressive Deathblog
I enjoy reading it everyweek.
