10 Movies to watch in 2007

2007 is coming with many anticipated movies. I decided to make a list of movies to watch next year, let’s see how many we’ve got.

3001. 300
Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite.

You may heard of Frank Miller before, he is father of the famous comic series Daredevil, Batman, Elektra, Sin City.

For those who haven’t seen the trailer, I would say it’s terrific. The visual effect is unique, I’ve never seen such effect before

spiderman3
2. Spider-man 3
A strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge. In Spider-man 3, our hero will face double the trouble, “a battle within”. Just another great movie based on fictional Marvel comics.

Interesting enough, Spider-man 3 is set to be released even before Spider-man 2 goes on screen
And John Dykstra, who won an Oscar for his work as visual effects supervisor on Spider-Man 2 (2004), won’t work on this third movie. Instead, Scott Stokdyk took over as visual effects supervisor. (from IMDB)

Honestly, I’m not a fan of Harry Potter movies series, but the fifth episode looks attractive. And Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) is pretty

pirate3
5. Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
If you enjoy the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” till the last minutes, you know for sure that the third part is coming. This time, Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann must sail off the edge of the map, navigate treachery and betrayal, and make their final alliances for one last decisive battle; also try to free Captain Jack Sparrow from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones’ locker. I almost forgot to mention, we’ll meet a famous Chinese actor – Chow Yon-Fat – as a pirate; I can feel his good performance after watching “Curse of the Golden Flowers”

6. Hostel: Part II
hostel2
If you did watch “Hostel: Part I”, you sure know how gore it is. Now, the second part promises not only more gore, but also a more complicated story, which is about three young female backpackers (Lauren German, Heather Matarazzo, Bijou Phillips) are lured away to a Slovakian hostel by a model from their class. Soon they will experience the grim reality their weekend getaway has in store.
Just one thing about the poster, it’s disgusting!

hannibal7. Hannibal Rising
This movie is the most anticipated one for me since I’m in love with “Silence of the lambs”, “Hannibal”, and “Red Dragon” for many years . In “Red Dragon” we’ve learned who he was. In “Silence of the Lambs” we’ve known how he did it. Now comes the most chilling chapter in the life of Hannibal Lecter – the one that answers the most elusive question of all – Why? Yes, Why? – it always come back to the question of why. The story begins in Eastern Europe at the desperate end of World War II …
Another thing to note: we’ll meet Gong Li again as a mysterious and beautiful Japanese lady – Murasaki Shikibu – author of the Tale of Genji. Gosh, I cannot wait to see this movie

8. Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard
When a criminal plot is in place to take down the entire computer and technological structure that supports the economy of the United States (and the world), it’s up to a decidedly “old school” hero, police detective John McClane (Bruce Willis), to take down the conspiracy, aided by a young hacker.
As soon as I see Bruce Willis’s name in the movie poster, I’m sold . People are working on its official title, one suggests Die Hard 4 will be named “Die Hardest” – I keep laughing when I read it on the Net.
Needless to say, Die Hard has been a lucrative seri, and its 4th part won’t be an exception. It will be released just before the July 4th next year.
