1. Jumper <2008>
Jumper just hit cinema on the Valentine Day 14/02
Based on Steven Gould’s novel of the same name, Jumper follows a young man who discovers he has the ability to teleport anywhere in the world. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between “Jumpers” and those who have sworn to kill them.

Directed by Doug Liman – father of Bourne series, Mr. and Mrs. Smith – Jumper promises you a 90 minutes of pleasure. But it’s just half of the truth
The movie has brilliant shots of many beautiful places that everyone loves to visit (Rome, Egypt, Paris, …
; its soundtracks are sexy; and the idea of teleport is interesting. But its scripts suck and the story line is lame

The movie should be rated 6/10, but if you watched the trailer, you will be drew to cinema like me

2. Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
After hard years in exile for a crime he didn’t commit, Benjamin Barker now Sweeney Todd, returns to London to find his wife dead and his daughter in the hands of the evil Judge Turpin. In his anger, Sweeney goes on a murderous rampage on all London, with the help of Mrs. Lovett, he opens a barber shop in which he lures his victims in with a charming smile before casually ending their life with a flick of his razor across their neck. But not one man killed, nor ten thousands men can satisfy Sweeney’s lust for revenge on those who’ve caused his years of pain.

Sweeney Todd movie was out there for quite sometime, but I only had time to watch it last week. I must say that I’m impressed
The movie delivers an excellent story surrounding Sweeney Todd (played by Johnny Deep), an urban legend obsessed with revenge. It’s a classic musical movie (something like Phantom of the Opera) filled with dark comedy, fully developed characters and awesome scripts. It leads you go from surprise to surprise, from the moment Johnny Deep started singing, till the day he turned a shop selling ‘worst pies in London’ into a slaughter-barber shop of Fleet Street ![]()
The movie is worth every single cent that you pay; but keep in mind, it’s rated R for violent and bloody scenes. One thing you might complain is the ending, though

After solving the Kira case, another serious one finds L and he has only 23 days left to solve it. A boy and a girl hold the key to solving the case and L faces a crisis of global magnitude to protect the kids. He is without his most trusted partner, Watari, and cannot rely on his superb intellect alone to solve the case. What will happen to L? What will change? The 23 days are packed with turns of events even L himself cannot predict.

4. There will be blood (2007)

Save the best for the last, The will be blood should be seen as one of the best epics of the year. The story chronicles the life and times of one Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), who transforms himself from a down-and-out silver miner raising a son on his own into a self-made oil tycoon ![]()
When Plainview gets a mysterious tip-off that there’s a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads with his son, H.W. (Dillon Freasier), to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston.
In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the holy roller church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike.
But even as the well raises all of their fortunes, nothing will remain the same as conflicts escalate and every human value – love, hope, community, belief, ambition and even the bond between father and son – is imperiled by corruption, deception and the flow of oil.
The film received significant critical praise and numerous award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay in 2007. You are guaranteed to enjoy an emotional masterpiece once again ![]()
