Desperate Housewives, some thoughts

Time flies, really. It’s almost 8 months since Desperate Housewives (DHW) Season 3 first started; and it ends today, with season finale episode 23 – Getting Married Today. DHW is one of the best TV shows ever made hats off, hands down, and no more argues Sharing almost the same tag lines with The Sopranos which are: re-define your family, re-define your friendships, and re-define your social relationships; DHW, however, has its own unique way to make you say “WoW!”. Every episode closes brilliantly, leaving you with a question of what might come next, wondering how the dirty laundry comes to clean

It’s so true that everyone has a little dirty laundry but you gotta love it because only with that, people can remember who you are; just like we all know how ‘unusual’ Susan Mayer was, how ‘perfect’ Bree Van De Kamp was, how ‘savvy career’ Lynette Scavo was, and how ‘sinful’ Gabrielle Solis was.

Eastern people, especially Vietnamese, are always proud of the so-called deep-rooted family values; but are we successfully in promoting own our culture? There was a time when people talked about “Xóm vắng“, “Mẹ ơi hãy yêu con lần nữa“, “Vòng đời“, “Những người sống quanh tôi“; but it was about 10 years back. How about today Look west, look for “Desperate Housewives“, learn from them, and appreciate the truly contemporary life-style down in Wisteria Lane. DHW did takes a darkly comedic look at suburbia, where the secret lives of housewives aren’t always what they seem and you’ll have no choice but to love that show.

Some can rate DHW as a great comedy show, but the drama is even better; such a ground breaking show that no one can deny. The story line is marvelous; the scripts are impeccable, and the main actors and actresses (mostly actresses) are top-notch

I cannot recall exactly how many times I found myself up and down, and pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the story went. It’s extremely amazing to see a simple story could touch our emotions that deep. If you’ve ever tried one episode before, you absolutely understand what I mean. If not, you should watch it early, the lessons behind are far more from what you expect

DHW season 4 is scheduled to be aired this September (2007) – about 120 days, 16 weeks, 4 months, 1/3 of a year away – a long desperate waiting time. It will be missed by many.

But I won’t let the precious time slip away. Time goes faster when we are busy, say ‘killing’ another show (The Sopranos, maybe)

And I’m done with my thoughts, now it’s time for DHW S03E23 season finale. The mythical and ever-changing Wisteria Lane, here I come
